SPANISH Grades K-8
All primary students (grades K-4) are exposed to the Spanish language and culture of various Spanish-speaking countries. Kindergarten through fourth grade receive the introduction to Spanish once per week, 25 minutes.
Students in fifth grade transition to our middle school Spanish teacher and attend Spanish class twice per week, 25 minutes per class. Sixth through eighth grade students attend Spanish class four times per week, 45 minutes per class.
Both the primary and middle school Spanish teachers are bilingual; fluent in both English and Spanish. Many of our students enroll in Spanish II or Honors Spanish when they enter high school.
SPANISH EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Saint Pius X School participates in an exchange program with our sister parish Saint Adalbert. Saint Pius X students visit the predominantly hispanic parish/school, and in turn, the students from Saint Adalbert visit Saint Pius X.
Eighth grade students also visit La Casa de Amistad in South Bend, a nonprofit, charitable organization offering various programs to serve the Hispanic community in the area.
