SOCIAL STUDIES Grades K-8
The academic social studies goal is to teach students to have a clear understanding of the moral responsibilities that we as members of a Catholic community have to be effective citizens in a democratic society.
Under the guidance of the Alliance for Catholic Education initiative at the University of Notre Dame and the State of Indiana Social Studies Standards, units of study were developed for students at each grade level. The foundational topics and depth of study increase in the various units of study by grade level.
Units of study vary in content and depth over the grade levels with the following overarching themes:
