Gospel Values
"Heart, Hands, and Feet for Jesus"
Our schoolwide behavior expectations are guided by the "Gospel Values" of Respect, Responsibility, Compassion, Teamwork, and Honesty. Students, parents, and teachers have all signed a "Gospel Pact" as a promise to act and treat others as Jesus taught us.
Gospel Talks
As part of our schoolwide Olweus community-building program, Gospel Talks are what we call our weekly class meetings.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Second graders attend this Religious Education class in the Atrium once a week.
Sacramental Preparation
This is such a special year for our second graders! The Religious Education office, along with the second grade teachers and catechists, enjoying helping our students prepare to receive two Sacraments this year: First Reconciliation and First Communion.
Daily Prayer
At Saint Pius, we begin each day with schoolwide prayer and pledge. In our classrooms, we pray together several times throughout the day -- before lunch and snack, during class, and at the close of our school day.
School Masses
We attend Mass twice a week. We enjoy the opportunity to come together as a school community to practice our Catholic Faith. We also gather as a school throughout the year to pray the Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration, Benediction, and Stations of the Cross.
Saints & Virtues Studies
Each month we learn about a different virtue. Virtues are good behavior habits. They are the tools God gives us to be the best version of ourselves. Saints are an excellent example to look to when discussing good Christian habits. So along with each virtue of the month, we study a Saint who exemplifies the virtue we want to emulate.
Step-by-Step Stewardship
Each grade at Saint Pius focuses on a unique theme for the stewardship of service. Our focus in second grade is service to senior citizens. We visit a local nursing home, attend Mass and a luncheon with the St. Pius Senior Group, and interview a special senior friend.
