Choir (Grades 3-5)
This choir for students in Grades 3 -5 enriches our School Mass assemblies through song. Members will enhance our school liturgical celebration, growing musically and spiritually, as they share their gifts with others. This choir rehearses after school from 3:10-4:00 p.m. (dates down below) Each year, Grade 5 students represent St. Pius X at the annual All Schools Mass at Notre Dame.
Grades 4 & 5 will have an opportunity to participate at the annual Pueri Cantores Choral Festival with all of the other schools of the Diocese (St. Pius X is hosting this year). Grade 5 choir members will have the option to begin cantoring at School Masses in March. In addition, this choir will sing once a month on Sundays (twice in December and April). School Mass Handbells (Grades 4 & 5)
The Handbell Choir for students in Grades 4 & 5 supports and sustains the singing of our Assembly and enhances liturgical celebrations through the gift of their musical talent. Members will learn how to read music, learn the art of handbell ringing, and how to play in an instrumental ensemble. Teamwork is exceptionally important in a handbell choir. Sunday Mass Youth Handbell Choir (Grade 5)
The St. Pius X Youth Handbell Choir enhances our liturgical celebrations on Sundays and other special times throughout the year through the gift of musical talent. Through instrumental music, our youth members enjoy praising God, learning how to read music, growing spiritually, and enjoying each other’s friendship. Membership is open to students starting in Grade 5. Reading music is not necessary. The Youth Handbell Choir rehearses Wednesdays in the church from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. The group plays at Mass twice a month at various times. Contact: Beth Habas 272-8462 ext. 325 bhabas@stpius.net
