“We chose Saint Pius X Catholic School for our children’s education because we wanted them to have a Christ-centered education; their excellent academic reputation, dedicated and caring staff, the full offering of humanities classes, and the connection with our wonderful parish community.”

BELIEFS
Catholic Identity: To Promote Growth in Faith
The students’ growth in faith is the central purpose of our school. In an environment reflecting peace, mercy, justice, and love, children are challenged to achieve their highest potential. They are encouraged to live their faith in word and deed in their family, church, and community.
Educational Methods: To Inspire Excellence
We hold high standards of academic excellence in which Gospel values are integrated in everyday activities. School personnel consider each child’s spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical well being. We use a variety of pedagogical strategies and materials to aid in the students’ success.
Parental Relations: To Foster Mutual Support
We recognize parents as having the primary responsibility for the formation and education of their children. Following the teaching of the Catholic Church, we will support, but are unable to assume, the role of parents. We expect parents to maintain communication with the school and support the school community. In this handbook, the word “parents” refers to parents and legal guardians.
THE HISTORY
Established as a parish in 1951, the roots of Saint Pius X Church go back to 1870 when Fr. Edward Sorin, C.S.C. founded Saint Joseph's Farm in Granger, Indiana. At the farm, Holy Cross Brothers and Sisters and Priests served the needs of Catholics in the rural farming community, while providing fresh food for the nearby University of Notre Dame.
As the area surrounding Saint Pius X grew, so did the parish. In 2008, the parish community embraced the newest and largest ministry of Saint Pius, a parochial school.
We now have over 3,000 families and almost 10,000 parishioners. This is a vibrant, faith-filled community dedicated to sharing and living the Good News. Programs and events touching the lives of every facet of the parish provide opportunities for education and spiritual growth. Saint Pius X has been described as a large parish with a small community feel, a true family of faith that seeks to respond to God's wondrous love and grace.
OUR PATRON - POPE SAINT PIUS X
To Renew All Things in Christ
Pope Saint Pius X, born Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto (1835-1914), was pope from 1903-1914 and canonized St. Pius X on May 29, 1954. A pastoral pope, Pope Pius X encouraged personal holiness, piety and a daily lifestyle reflecting deep Christian values.
At the same time Fr. Sorin was establishing St. Joseph’s Farm in 1867, Fr. Giuseppe Sarto began his labors in the farm country of northern Italy. From these beginnings, he would receive from the Lord a mission as great and far-reaching as the motto he chose when he was later elected to the papacy as Pope Pius X ~ To Renew All Things in Christ.
